Strike Up the Band and have a fun dog party...it's Mardi Gras time!
A Mardi Gras is a great theme for a fun dog party and a sure-fire way to get everybody involved, from doggie guests to owners. Let your imagination run wild and give your guests a party to remember!
This is a must-do theme for all party animals... so let's go to the Mardi Gras!
* Mardi Gras Fun Dog Party Invitations
What could be more fun than making your own Mardi Gras masks. Try using lightweight card, glitter, sequins, feathers and anything else you may have, that will add sparkle to your work of art. Now write your fun dog party details on the back of each mask and ask your guests to wear their mask to the party!
Another great idea for a party invitation is to attach a label to a multi-colored bead necklace. Then write something like:
It’s (birthday dog) Mardi Gras party time
Boogie on over for the games, food and lots of fun.
Come join our fiesta at (your address) on (date and time)
Call our carnival hot-line (phone number) to confirm
* Mardi Gras Fun Dog Party Decorations
A Mardi Gras theme party has everything to make the party go with a zing. Decorations, music, great food and loads of beads.
Show the way to the party with signs that are unique to the French Quarter such as Bourbon Street and Jackson Square.
Accent your party walls with mix-n-match "Scene Setters”, that will add the fiesta “feel”, such as French Quarter street terraces, borders and icons, to your Mardi Gras party theme.
Decorate the party area with purple, green, and gold streamers, swirls, garlands and of course, a carpet of colored balloons to decorate the room. Go crazy and get cut-outs of jazz band instruments, such as saxophones and horns, to hang from the ceiling. Try putting Mardi Gras Mask columns in the corner of the room, with a few cardboard jesters hanging around.
Using cardboard boxes, try making a “drinks station” and place a sign above that says “Pat O'Briens Bar” and serve up the doggie drinks. Decorate your doggie bowls with Glow Light necklaces for a great party
blast!
Complete your fun dog party theme table preparation with Mardi Gras plates, beakers and napkins. Scatter different color bead necklaces, Mardi Gras doubloons, masks and musical note confetti decoratively over the tabletop, ready for your tailwaggin' extravaganza!
Finally, make a great Mardi Gras centerpiece using colorful feathered masks around a bunch of purple, green, and yellow balloons. Hold the string ends down, with a paper-weight, to stop them floating away.
* Mardi Gras Fun Dog Party Food
Fill clear plastic bowls with doggie treats and cookies. Take a stroll over to our Homemade Treats page for some great doggie recipes. All you do is change the names to something like Carnival Surprise, Deep Fried Turkey, Mardi Gras Snax, Shrimp Bits, etc. Then put a few flashing cubes in with the treats to make them look really great. Don’t forget to make sure you take them out before serving them to your doggie guests... unless you want them to glow in the dark!!
Also, give your doggie owners a treat and have some Tri-Colored Light Cubes, complete with flashing lights, to put in their drinks... they look really cool!
Continue this party theme with some "laser light coasters", for your guests to put their drinks on. Watch in wonder as the light's change color and then disappear when you pick up the glass!
For a fabulous fun dog party idea, why not get your doggies guests and owners to dress up and have a Mardi Gras Parade, down the street or just round the garden. This is a great photo opportunity where every doggie guest gets a prize.
What better way to bring your dog party to a close, than with all the fun of a Piñata. Maybe make your own piñata by covering a balloon with a couple of layers of paper mache and then filling with treats, for a doggie bonanza!
* At the end of the party...
Thank all your guests, both furry ones and their owners, and then hand out the party favors.
Party favors have become a great “must have” finale to a birthday party. So why break with tradition at your Mardi Gras fun dog party. Let your guests go down Bourbon Street with a party favor tote bag filled with treats and a small toy... It's a great way to say thanks!
